Party at The Blossoms

Occasionally, a night comes along that will live long in the memory and Friday, May 1st was one of those nights.

First, it was another return gig at the brilliant Blossoms in Ansdell a venue that never fails to deliver a fantastic atmosphere. Secondly, we had a very special guest performer joining us (more on that shortly). And finally, but by no means least, assistant manager Beth was celebrating her 27th birthday which meant this was never going to be just an ordinary gig.

LET’S GET TO IT…

This show had a slightly different feel right from the start. With Beth’s birthday in mind a country theme was chosen for the night, complete with the promise of a full-on hoe-down showdown. It gave the evening a unique twist and set the tone for something a little special.

To match the theme we invited a friend of the band and up-and-coming artist Leanne Wright to perform ahead of JBB. From the moment she stepped up Leanne was fantastic. Her set was lively, engaging and perfectly suited to the occasion. She didn’t just warm up the crowd, she lit the spark. By the time we were ready to take the stage the pub was already packed with people singing along and dancing.

When JBB got going we leaned into the theme, adding a few country-style tracks into our set as a nod to Beth. The energy in the room was incredible and Leanne’s earlier performance had clearly lifted everyone’s spirits, including ours. It felt like everything just clicked.

The second set kicked off in similar fashion, with another short but brilliant performance from Leanne, keeping the momentum going. By this point it was clear that a large portion of the crowd, easily half were there specifically to celebrate Beth’s birthday, which made the atmosphere even more electric.

The highlight of the night came when Beth herself took to the stage. The crowd erupted as she joined us, ready to perform a song she had personally requested — “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” In true Chris Jack fashion, she was welcomed front and centre and she absolutely owned the moment. It was one of those spine-tingling highlights that remind you why live music is so special.

All in all, the evening was a huge success, full of energy, laughter and great music. A perfect mix of celebration and performance and without a doubt a night that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
