The Royal Oak

Saturday night marked a very welcome return for us to the Royal Oak in Blackpool, a venue that has quickly become one of our favourite places to play. From the moment we arrived we were reminded why we always look forward to performing here. The Royal Oak offers everything a live band could ask for, a fantastic stage setup, plenty of space for dancing and an atmosphere that always feels warm, lively and full of energy.

One of the things that makes this venue so special is the people. As soon as the music starts the crowd are ready to be part of the night. We were welcomed, as we always are, with great enthusiasm and a real willingness from everyone in the room to join in, sing along and hit the dance floor. That kind of reception makes a huge difference for any band and immediately sets the tone for a brilliant night of live music.

This particular gig came with a small twist. Our regular drummer unfortunately couldn’t make it, but Phil stepped in to save the day, complete with his very impressive drum kit. Anyone who has seen Phil play will know that he brings a huge amount of skill and professionalism to the stage and Saturday night was no exception. From the very first song he slotted straight into the groove and drove the rhythm all night long.

Of course, playing with Chris sometimes means being kept on your toes! At one point a song was called out with absolutely no warning, but Phil handled it exactly as you would expect, calmly, confidently and flawlessly. It’s moments like that which remind you just how talented musicians like Phil really are.

As the evening went on, the Royal Oak did what the Royal Oak always does. The dance floor filled up, the crowd’s energy grew stronger with every song and the atmosphere became electric. Seeing people enjoying themselves, dancing, singing and sharing the moment together is exactly what live music is all about. Nights like this are the reason we love getting on stage.

The connection between the band and the audience at this venue is something truly special. There’s a real sense of everyone being part of the same experience and that shared energy feeds directly back to us on stage. When a crowd brings that level of enthusiasm it pushes us to perform with even more passion and commitment.

Speaking on behalf of everyone in JBB, we appreciate the support and energy we receive at the Royal Oak. It’s venues like this and crowds like the one we had on Saturday night, that remind us why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, danced, sang along and helped make it another fantastic night. We can’t wait to come back and do it all over again.
