The White Bull, Chorley

A new venue was next on the line up for JBB and what a debut this was!

Upon arrival at any new venue it is always the question of ‘Where do we set up?’ A quick conversation with the bar staff and we were directed to our place for the night.

The pub was already full of patrons having an after work Friday libation and they were all ready to hear some music. Now for this performance the band had a new PA System for putting the microphones through when we play smaller venues so it was the maiden voyage for the equipment as well. We are proud to say that it served us well, and although a few technical issues (which we will continue to try and iron out the more we use), the voices were heard throughout the venue.

Unbeknown to JBB a special guest had made their way to the venue and was hidden in plain sight. None other than Phil Burr, fellow Co-founder of Jack Burr Band and Ex-Drummer, had travelled down to come and watch the band perform in his home town. This was a great surprise for all of the followers who made it for the night and to the band as well. In the break between the first and second spot conversation flowed and many memories flooded back.

Following JBBs second spot of the night the shout out for ‘More’ was deafening. Naturally Chris ensured that everyone in the pub wanted more and then launched into not one, not two but three encores finishing with Dakota, Stereophonics with the immortal line ‘Made me feel like the Ken’ and pointing at the one and only Phil Burr (if you know…you know).

After this The White Bull was not finished with JBB and wanted more! Andy shouted out that we would only play ‘One More Song’ if Phil Burr joined us on the drums. To hear the whole pub chanting his name gave us chills to witness Phil take off his jacket and thank Paul Frankland for allowing him to use just Drum Kit. Following which Chris then encouraged Phil to steal Andy’s microphone and sing one final song with the band to close the night.

For those that were in attendance were treated to not only a great night of music from JBB but also given the opportunity to witness the original line up exactly one year from when Phil had to hang up his sticks. Thank you Phil for making this debut an even further memorable night.
